Spencer is a renowned Jim McLean Certified Instructor and golf expert with significant experience in the golf industry. Spencer’s passion for the game and commitment to teaching others led him to create Coach Spencer Golf, where he aims to share his knowledge and experience to help golfers develop their game, regardless of their skill level.

Spencer’s journey in the golf world has been nothing short of remarkable. With over five years of experience at the International Golf Club outside of Boston as the Lead Assistant, he honed his skills further as a Certified Teaching Professional at the prestigious Jim McLean Golf School outside Miami, Florida. Today, Spencer continues to raise the bar as an independent Golf Coach and PGA of America Associate in Phoenix, Arizona.

Over the years, Spencer has showcased his ability to work with students of all ages and abilities through various teaching formats, including 1-on-1 lessons, golf schools, and clinics. He has been an instrumental force in producing and executing player development plans for Jim McLean Summer Camp students, while also personally assisting Jim McLean with lessons for PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour players.

In addition to his one-on-one coaching, Spencer took on the challenge of coaching the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart Junior High girls golf team, where he inspired young athletes to embrace the joy of the game. As a natural leader, he further leveraged his skills by successfully managing and leading a team of six Teaching Assistants.

A strong believer in using technology to improve his craft, Spencer supported senior instructors in implementing technology systems such as TrackMan, Hudl Technique, BodiTrak, SAM PuttLab, K-Motion K-Vest, JC Video, and Mirror Vision. His passion for teaching and marketing combined when he created engaging golf school video marketing content.

Having trained under the watchful eye of Jim McLean Golf School Directors of Instruction Chris Toulson and Grayson Zacker, as well as Jim McLean himself, Spencer has mastered various techniques and strategies to enhance his students’ golf game.

Notably, Spencer also boasts a competitive amateur playing career, participating in the U.S. Open, U.S. Amateur, and U.S. Mid-Amateur local qualifiers. He’s competed in prestigious Ohio amateur tournaments such as the Ohio Amateur, Ohio Mid-Amateur, and Cincinnati Met.

As an NCAA Division I golfer at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, Spencer proved his leadership qualities by serving as Team Captain. His impressive performance earned him several Northeast Conference (NEC) Golfer of the Week selections and a spot on the NEC Academic Honor Roll.

Spencer’s love for golf began in middle school, and it didn’t take long for him to start his competitive journey. Through his hard work, he became a regionally successful junior player in New England, winning various tournaments on the New England PGA Jr. Tour, and playing in the top position for the Lunenburg, Massachusetts, high school golf program.
